When I came to see Ben, I'd had serious problems with my left shoulder for almost a year. Over time, the situation had gradually worsened, and eventually my range of motion was so limited that it was difficult to do simple things like putting on a coat, reaching into the backseat, or even rolling over in bed. Now that I'm feeling much better, it's sometimes hard to remember everything I couldn't do before. But a few short months ago I couldn't raise my arm up to the side or above my head without feeling extreme pain.
Before meeting with Ben I had tried many other treatments. None of them made a real difference. While some did help a bit, the effect was only temporary. I was getting to the point of asking myself, "Am I just going to have to live with this for the rest of my life?" I could find no relief.
I learned about Ben's work from a friend of mine whom he had helped to eliminate a shoulder problem. After an initial assessment Ben recommended a combination of work with him and an orthopedic medicine physician he had worked with. He performed some very specialized resistance stretching techniques on my shoulder to break up the adhesions, as he explained, and also gave me exercises to do daily. The physician gave me several anti-inflammatory injections which Ben said would make the process faster and less painful.
At first the change was gradual, but after three or four weeks, I began seeing major improvements. My shoulder continues to improve with each session, and now I feel 90% better. I notice just a little bit of discomfort in daily life, but it's nothing like what I used to experience. Without all of those factors working in my favor — consistent work with Ben, the injections, and the daily exercises — I know that my recovery would have taken much longer. Now, more and more, I find myself reaching for things with my left hand. I no longer have to think twice before doing something.
Throughout my healing process, I've found Ben really easy to work with. He's conscientious and attentive, and even when the treatments have been uncomfortable, I've actually enjoyed having him work on me. Ben's also very professional, straightforward and to the point. You always know where he's coming from and what he means. I can certainly tell he knows what he's talking about.
If somebody out there has a pain problem that hasn't been resolved, it would
be valuable for them to at least be evaluated by Ben; it's well worth the time and the money. He's the only person who's been able to help me.
